     Charles P. Shores, 86, (Bailey Lakes) passed away on Thursday, October 20th 2011 at Hospice House of North Central Ohio.  He was born in Lascassas, Tennessee, May 14, 1925, the son of the late Cortez H. and Vera (Williams) Shores.  He was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Linda, a son, Scott Mitchell, and Brother, Joseph.  He had lived in the Ashland area since 1954.

     He was a veteran, and had served in the U.S. Merchant Marines during World War II, and with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.  He was retired from the Fisher Body Division of General Motors in Mansfield as a Shift Engineer after more than 29 years of service.  He was a strong family man, and always there for everyone when needed.   He was an avid hunter in earlier years.

     He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou (Shoemaker), a native of Barberton, OH, whom he married in Balboa Heights of the Panama Canal Zone in 1951.  Also surviving are sons, Carl, of Chandler, Arizona, and Kevin (Robynne) of Ashland; for grandsons, Jonathan Shores, stationed U.S. Navy, Yokosuka, Japan; Ross Shores, Tempe, Arizona; Jeremiah Shores, Shelby, OH.; Jason Poth, Mansfield, OH.; step-grandson, Ryan Hylton, Ashland, OH.; three granddaughters, Jamie (Patrick) Donnelly-Shores, Berkeley, CA.; Kymberly (Lee) Daiber, and Molly Shores of Ashland; five great-grandchildren: Olivia, Camren, Jade, Hogan, and Taylor.  He is also survived by sisters: Dorothy Mangum, Wilma Van Patten, Martha Ann Tarpley (Robert) and a brother, Jack Shores, all of Tennessee, and a sister, Nina Gannon of South Carolina.
