Nick Vuillemot passed away February 12, 2017. Nick was a native of New Orleans, LA, born on August 3, 1943. He is survived by his wife, Rachel L. Lanier of Bernalillo, NM; his son, Eric Charles Vuillemot; grandsons, Jessie T. and Zachary C. Vuillemot of Dallas, TX; his sisters, Madeline C. James of Loreauville, LA and Suzanne V. Sloan of Mandeville, LA; and eight nieces and nephews.
He and his wife, Rachel L. Lanier, moved to New Mexico from Florida, where they had resided for over twenty years, on December 24, 2004. Nick was very involved in his new home in New Mexico, holding leadership positions in several organizations in the community.
He was the first Executive Director of the Greater Bernalillo Chamber of Commerce, serving from March 1, 2005 until May 22, 2006 when he resigned to become the Executive Director and Founder of the Eastern Sandoval County Chamber of Commerce; a Eucharistic Minister and a Lector at the San Antonio Catholic Mission in Placitas, as well as singing Bass in the choir there; on the Board of Directors of the Placitas Artist Series; on the Founding Board of Directors of the Bernalillo Public Schools Education Foundation; a member of the REDTT Council; Founding member of the “Empower our Communities Spheres of Influence Program,” Program Chairman and President Elect (July 2007 to June 2008) of the Bernalillo-Coronado Rotary Club, member of the Mid New Mexico Coalition of Chambers of Commerce; member of Friends of Coronado State Monument; graduate of Leadership Sandoval County in June of 2006; graduate of the US Chamber of Commerce Institute of Organization Management in January of 2007 and a US Army Special Forces veteran serving his country honorably from 1962 to 1970.
