Charles Lowell Marvin died peacefully at home with his wife and boys at his side on Saturday, April 23rd 2016 at the age of 81.

Charlie was born November 2, 1934 in Forsyth, Montana to Gilford and Lura Marvin. They moved to Smith Valley when Charlie was 2 years old.   He graduated in 1953 from Flathead High School and married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Schonenberger on July 3rd, 1954 in Somers. This summer they would’ve celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary.

Charlie and Shirley were blessed with 9 sons in 15 years.  Ron and Robin of Kalispell; Clay and Lori of Lodi, CA; Shawn of Kalispell; Kenneth and LeAnn of Kalispell; Loren and Jamie of Reno, NV;  Zeno and Liz of Hermiston, OR; Matthew and Lori of Kalispell; Chuck and Anne of Missoula; Michael and Amy of Spokane, WA.  They also have 19 Grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.   He was proceeded in death by his parents and four siblings.

In 1955, Charlie and Shirley moved to Spokane, WA, where Charlie attended Barber school. After graduating they moved to Missoula, where Charlie barbered for a year.  In 1956, they moved back to Kalispell where Charlie opened a barber shop on Idaho Street.  Along with his barber shop, Charlie spent the weekends farming, working in the woods cutting railroad ties and cutting Christmas trees with Shirley and the boys.  He was a fair, kind hearted man, who was adamant about teaching his boys a strong worth ethic and developing a respect for life. He loved coaching his boys and working with them and he was passionate family man. His children will remember him as a supportive and accepting father who encouraged them to be positive.  

He and Shirley were also active and dedicated members of Saint Matthews Parish.
