Charles L. Zecher, 91, of Lakewood CO, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Lakewood Meridian surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 21, 1927 in New York, he was the son of the late George C. and Elsa H. (Behrend) Zecher. Charles married Shirley Pahrman on June 13, 1959 and together they shared 33 years of a loving marriage. Shirley sadly passed away on September 18, 1992.
In 1945, Charles graduated with a Founder’s Medal for top honors from St. Marks Academy in Southborough, MA. He then went on to receive an architectural degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in 1950. He pursued additional architectural studies abroad at the Swiss Federal Polytechnic Institute in Switzerland. Charles enjoyed a long and distinguished career as a self-employed consulting structural engineer. Along the way he followed his passion for religious studies, and received a Master’s Degree in Theology from St. Thomas Theological Seminary in 1987.
He enjoyed traveling the world, language and religious studies, genealogy research, architecture, playing the piano, reading, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and his beloved Denver Broncos.
Charles is survived by his daughter Britta, his son Eric, his daughter Valerie and her husband Dave, as well as his grand-daughter, Blake, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, and his wife, Shirley, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Ralph and Robert.
