Charles (Chuck) Joseph Fahrner III, 73 of Boise, ID, passed away at home on October 23, 2022, after his beloved Green Bay Packers’ miserable loss to the Washington Commanders.
Chuck was born in Indianapolis, IN, and grew up in an Air Force family, moving to several air bases before landing in Mountain Home. After graduating from Mountain Home High School in 1967, Chuck went to the University of Idaho until he enlisted in the Air Force and served in the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1973. He joined the Idaho National Guard in 1979 and worked as a radar technician at Gowen Field until his retirement in 2007. Chuck was dedicated to his country and taught his kids the importance of democracy and the American dream.
Chuck excelled in all types of sports and loved the great outdoors. Whether it be running, 24- hour road races in the snow, triathlons, alpine skiing, water skiing, or speed walking, Chuck loved to move. His kids remember him showing off his athletic prowess while water skiing and performing his signature 360 degree turns while skiing on a single water ski.
Chuck had a passion for adventures and living life to the fullest. Chuck was bigger than life and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, Charles J. Fahrner, Jr. and Betty Fahrner, and his younger brother, John R. Fahrner.
He is survived by his four children, Shasta Jorgensen (Lorens) of Concord, NH; Chaz Fahrner of San Diego, CA; Joel Fahrner (Allison) of Grants Pass, OR; and Jon Fahrner (Melissa) of Grants Pass, OR; his sister, Carol Sanders of Garden City; his two nieces, Jenny Anderson (Ray) of Boise and Kristen Fahrner of Grants Pass, OR; grandchildren Cydnee, Leila, Jonathan, Clara, Lilia, Jack, Eli, and Adeline; and his friend and former wife, Terri Smith-Fahrner of Boise.
