Charles Ivan Matchette, age 86, of Jonesboro, IN, died Friday, December 24, 2010, at Marion General Hospital in Marion, IN. Ivan had farmed for some 60 years raising hogs, milking cows and crop farming. He graduated from Sweetser High School Class of 1942.
He married his wife of 64 years Rosemary Wright November 10, 1946 at Fairmount, she survives He was the son of the late William Dale Matchette and the late Zetta (Smith) Matchette, born March 28, 1924 in Grant County. He was a loving father and grandfather and was a member of the Bethel Friends Church for 57 years. He was a former member of the Twin City Lions Club, was a former board member for the Youth For Christ, and the Federal Land Bank.
He was member of the Holding Corporation for the building of Madison-Grant High School. He was a member of the Quaker Haven Board of Directors and had formerly taught Sunday School at Bethel Friends. He was an avid fisherman enjoyed hunting squirrels.
He is also survived by. Kevin James (Katie) Matchette, Kannapolis, NC Joshua (Cory) Matchette, Marion, INAbigail Matchette, Canada Sarah Reed, Marion, IN Chasity Matchette, Port St. Lucie, FL Jared Matchette, Munice, IN Elizabeth (Landon) Bell, Cincinnati, OH Chloe and Caleb Matchett 5 Great Grandchildren: Issac Matchette, Blake Pond, Elijah Reed, Parker Matchette, Eliana Matchette.
He was preceded in death by son, Michael D. Matchette and a sister, Margaret Haas.
