Charles Arthur Houtz, 78, of Ottawa, died on Tuesday morning, July 24, 2018 at his home. Chuck was born on October 5, 1939 in LaSalle to Arthur Charles and Frances (Siemers) Houtz. He was a graduate of Ottawa Township High School class of 1957. Charles joined the United States Air Force in 1957 under the buddy system with three of his classmates.

He married Sandra Lynn Zsizsik on June 22, 1963 at the First Evangelical United Methodist Church in Ottawa.  He farmed for 53 years and made his love for the land his life’s occupation. Chuck was a member of the Deer Park Community Church, was the past President of the Waltham Curling Club.  He was a member of the La Salle County Farm Bureau, and the Oglesby Elks #2360.

His hobbies included Coffee Group at Joy and Ed’s, curling, hunting, fishing, playing cards, and farming. He is survived by his wife Sandra, one sister, Ruth Ann Clanin, of Toluca; 3 nieces, Susan (Danny) Monsour of Las Vegas, NV, Karen (John) Lund of Huntsville, AL, Debra (Rich) Drennen of Le Roy, IL; 2 nephews, James Clanin of Toluca, IL, Michael (Debbie) Clanin of Belvidere, IL; 7 great nephews, and 5 great-great nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
