Charles H. Ham of Shalimar, a resident of the area since 1943, died on Feb. 17, 2007, after a lengthy illness.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Virginia; daughter Nancy Frey (Bill); granddaughter Suzanna McNeely (Scott); grandson Charlie Frey (Elise); great-granddaughter, Emma Beth McNeely; sister, Virginia Ham; and brother, Bill Ham.
Charlie served his country above and beyond, both in the United States Air Force, rising to the rank of colonel, and he was a GS-17 at USAFE headquarters, and later was Chief Scientist at TAWC. He was a mechanical engineering graduate of Auburn University, and an enthusiastic tiger fan. He was a determined and creative golfer. He like people in general, and was a hero to his family.
