Charles “Gus” W. Smethers 81 of Silver Ridge Park East section of Berkeley Township died on Sunday November 2, 2014 at Community Medical Center, Toms River, NJ. Born in Indiana he lived in Wayne, NJ moving to Silver Ridge Park East 20 years ago. Gus proudly served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He was a Manager with Glass Seal in Lakewood, NJ for many years. A parishioner of St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church, Berkeley Township, NJ.
He was a member of the Socialites and the Entertainment Committee of Silver Ridge Park East, a member of the American Legion and VFW both of Toms River, NJ. and the Editor of the Park Echo, Silver Ridge Park East. His hobbies included making bird houses and fishing. Surviving is his wife Mary (nee Castner), two daughters Marlene Simone and her husband Phillip of Little Falls, NJ and Susan Richardson and her husband William David of Toms River, NJ, one brother Paul Smithers of Green Castle, PA, one sister Catherine Arians of Hanover, PA, four grandchildren Philip, Charles, Michael, and Katherine and also one great granddaughter Jianna.
