Charles Edward Crawford, affectionately known as Chucko, 92, of Kalamazoo, died peacefully Wednesday night of COVID-19. He was surrounded by the staff at Park Place who loved and adored him. Charles graduated from Purdue University with an engineering degree and was a lifelong Boilermaker fan. He was also a fan of the NFL, particularly the Detroit Lions. He proudly served in the Coast Guard from 1946 to 1949 and loved to travel the world over. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and holidays in the comfort of family and home-cooked food.

His favorite pastime was playing cards, no matter the game. Charles is survived by his sister, Beverly Hebib, his daughters who were grateful for the many opportunities they experienced during their childhoods, and their spouses; Connie McWethy, Sandy and Bill Kuilema, Julee and Dan Hunt, A. E. and Robert Presley and his son-in-law, Steve McWethy. Chucko was blessed with 6 grandchildren: Andrew, Matthew, Caitlin, Lindsay, Joe, and Austin and 11 great-grandchildren.

Chucko spent the last few years of his life at Park Place Assisted Living where he became great friends with their caring staff.
