Muncie-Charles E. “Ed” Smeltzer, 70, passed away Monday morning, December 16, 2013, at the Parkview Health Care Center following an extended illness.  He was born on July 23, 1943, in Muncie, the son of Edric and Maxine (Curtis) Smeltzer.  Mr. Smeltzer obtained his General Education Diploma and later attended the Indiana Vocational Technical College majoring in auto mechanics.  Ed married Lindy (Harty) Smeltzer on May 23, 1986 in Muncie.  Mr. Smeltzer had worked as a free lance construction worker for many companies in the Muncie area retiring in 2006.  He enjoyed gardening, watching the Colts Football Team and was a Hank Williams music fan.

Besides his wife of 27 years, Lindy, he is also survived by two daughters, Tonya Naylor (husband-Brian) and Lindy “Annies” Miller-Smeltzer, both of Muncie; one son, Charles “Ed” Smeltzer(companion-Cathy), Muncie; three grandsons, Zachary, Zane Naylor and Nathaniel “Bubba” Miller-Smeltzer all of Muncie; one granddaughter, Stormie Miller-Smeltzer, Muncie; a special neice and nephew whom he helped rear, Jeannie Silvers (companion-Brit) and Jake silvers, all of Muncie; two sisters, Linda Bartling (husband-Gary),Muncie and Clova Curtis, Californina;

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, David Smeltzer and Tom Carmichael and his wife, Brenda; also one sister, Brenda Carmichael.
