Charles David Eutsey, 77, of Shipshewana and formerly of Elkhart, passed peacefully at 6:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at his home.

Charles was born in Brownsville, Pa., Nov. 24, 1939, to the late Charles A. and Ruth (Veatch)) Eutsey Mason, and later married the love of his life, Matilda Poling on Feb. 28, 1961. in Winchester, Va.

She ended her earthly pilgrimage in 2012.

Surviving are his children Ron (Patty) Eutsey of Shipshewana, Matilda (Thomas) Carlisle of White Pigeon, Mich. and Tina (Chad) Rapp of Elkhart; sisters Patricia Patterson of Elyria, Ohio, Charlotte (Dave) Bursiek of Cape Coral, Fla., Merna (Ron) Peters of Middlebury and Ruthie (Bob) Frye of Claysville, Pa.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one on the way.

Preceding Charles in death along with his wife are a son, Charles D. Eutsey Jr., brothers John and Chucky Eutsey and sisters Norma Patterson, Arlene Vanderbosch and Sharon Sires.

Charles was a coal miner in his earlier days, but went on to become a master cabinet maker in the mobile and modular housing industry.

He was a lifetime member of Goshen Moose No. 836, an associate member of the American Legion and loved spending time with his grandchildren, working in his garden, hunting or fishing and cheering on old Notre Dame.
