Johnson, Charles D. “Dick” of Saginaw, Michigan
Our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend peacefully went home to be with the Lord, with his family by his side, on Friday, January 11, 2019. The son of the late Neil and Mary (Brad) Johnson was born on May 27, 1937, in Saginaw. He was one of eight brothers and one sister, growing up in Saginaw and attending Douglas McArthur High School. He worked as a mason throughout his life, and was a member of Labors Union. He married his sweetheart, Sharon A. Dubay on December 11, 1981; and after 36 years of marriage she preceded him in death on September 25, 2017. Dick enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and friends, he especially loved working on his trucks, with his kids. Dick enjoyed taking rides in his truck with his wife, Sharon; listening to country music, going to the casino and singing.
Surviving are his beloved 13 children: Jeanne (Steve) Lapine of Saginaw, Charles Jr. (Tonya) Johnson of Saginaw, James Johnson and his fiancée Debbie Tennier of Saginaw, Marietta (Timothy) Near of Saginaw, George Johnson of Saginaw, Joseph Johnson of Saginaw, Barbara Rosin and her boyfriend, Tony Piraino of Arizona; Rick Near of Saginaw, Diane (Don) Steinger of Oklahoma, Jerry Near and his fiancée, Barb Vance of Burt, Gary Near of Bay City and Dawn (Rick) Morgan of Hale; 29 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; brothers: Robert Johnson, Don Johnson, Doug Johnson and Clyde Johnson; and several nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, Tom Hoelbl, Ken and Shannon Smith and Sam and many forever friends.
He was preceded in death by a son, William Near, II, his mother and father; three brothers: William Johnson, Thomas Johnson and Arthur Johnson; sister, Martha Evans; great grandchildren: Steven and Alilia Markel.
