CHARLES FREDERICK CHILDRESS, SR., age 80 of, Manassas, Virginia died Saturday, February 1, 2003 at Prince William Hospital, Manassas. Mr. Childress was a member of Manassas St. Thomas United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Methodist Mens group. Mr. Childress was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Marines, participating in the battle of Okinawa. He was Vice President of First Virginia Bank and then manager of the Fairfax County Police Association Club. Survivors include his wife of 54 years June F. Childress, his children Nancy Childress Bowen and her husband Thomas Gary of Burke, Charles Frederick quot;Fredquot; Childress and his wife Deborah Ward of New Baltimore, four sisters, Virginia Lee Holmes of Eufaula, AL, Ruth Melton South of Birmingham, AL, Lillian Lamar Taylor of Cuthbert, GA, Sara Francis Roberts of Americus, GA, two brothers Henry Eugene Childress of Covington, GA, and Billy Roland Childress of Cuthbert, GA. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, Michael Conley Bowen, Daniel Clay Childress, Adam Charles Bowen, Rebecca Elizabeth Childress, Stephanie Rose Childress, and Calvin Benjamin Childress.
