DURHAM Mr. Charles “Bert” Piekaar, 54, of 6923 Leesville Road, died on Tuesday, September 25, . Piekaar was a native and lifelong resident of Durham, the son of the late Charles Bertis Piekaar and Ruby Lee Sykes Piekaar. He was employed with Durham Academy for 35 years as a Maintenance Foreman. He was a member of Shady Grove Free Will Baptist Church and the Adult Sunday School Class. He was a Boy Scout Leader and was very active in the Lynn’s Crossroads Ruritan Club. He loved fishing, gardening, and the is survived by his wife, Joyce Piekaar; son, Michael Piekaar of Durham; daughter, Misty Piekaar of Durham; sister, Tina Radford of Durham; nephew, Dylan Radford and mother, Ruby Hoffman of Durham.
