Charles B. O’Grady, 61, of Lakeside, died Tuesday, April 7, 2009. Charles was born May 5, 1947 in St. Joseph. He graduated from Three Oaks High School in 1966 and continued his education at Ferris State University; Michigan State University; and by taking classes while he served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp. Charles earned a degree in acting and took part in reenactments of the French / Indian War in his younger years. He was employed as a Private Investigator with Pinkerton’s in Grand Rapids and Niles and later worked at Forest Lawn Landfill in Three Oaks. Charles was in the Merchant Marines for 10 years.

He liked being on the water and was a Crewman on Columbus’ Nina when it sailed the Great Lakes. Charles enjoyed good conversation, reading Pirate novels, and smoking White Owl miniatures.

He is survived by his best friend and loving companion, Vickie Magnuson, his step sister, Mary Jane Carlson, and his many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Mildred (Nelson) O’Grady.
