Charlene Sturges Kuehn, 67, of Ridgefield, died peacefully on Friday, January 21, 2022. Charlene was born in Norwalk, CT, on August 8, 1954, a daughter of John and Sylvia (Pinchbeck) Sturges. She attended elementary and junior high school in Ridgefield and graduated from Fryeburg Academy in Maine, one of the oldest private schools in the country.
A longtime Ridgefield resident, Charlene had multiple interesting careers over the years, including a stint as a delicatessen owner for a brief period of time. Playing the lottery paid off for Charlene in 2020 when a ticket purchased down the street from her home brought her fifteen minutes of fame and $100K in winnings.
Charlene raised her two daughters, Sarah and Kristina, with the utmost devotion. A favorite pastime of theirs were the two-hour long bike rides they enjoyed together. More recently, during the pandemic, she was glad to spend it with her grandson Brandon, of whom she was so proud, who is now a junior at James Madison University. She, too, loved her grandson Will Rafter, of Virginia, who is a sophomore in high school. She welcomed new grandson Simon Schroder into her heart just seven months ago. Charlene had a great sense of humor, was honest and caring, and will be missed by those who knew her.
Charlene is survived by her grandson, Brandon Shafer; her daughter, Sarah Kuehn Schroder (Harrison Schroder) and their sons Will Rafter and Simon Schroder; and her mother, Sylvia Pinchbeck Sturges. She also leaves behind dear friends and extended family members, including brother Jim (Cece) Sturges, brother Don (Tina) Sturges, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Kristina Kuehn; father, John Sturges; and grandparents Ernest and Esther Sturges and Joseph and Effie Pinchbeck.
