On Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at the Saint Barnabas Hospital in Livingston, New Jersey, our beloved mother, Celia Olivier known as “Madam Colo” surrendered to death that would not take “no” for an answer and that is always a waiting patiently and nonchalantly for man at the gate of life. For there could be no other way ever since the introduction of sin in the Garden of Eden.

Celia Olivier was born in June 29, 1934, to Ducatel Saintelus and Casmen Merestine (both deceased) in Port Margot, Haiti.  She was the second of seven siblings; Elisa Saintelus (deceased),  Zina Saintelus Dame (deceased), Occianise Saintelus, Caseus Saintelus, Petit-Frere Saintelus (deceased), and Sylvanie Saintelus.

As a young woman she was business oriented, which led her to test her ability as an entrepreneur. She was a successful businesswoman. She was always engaged and involved in more than one business activities at a time. Every morning, she will go to the marketplace to exchange goods and in the afternoon she would join her husband in operating a eat out mini restaurant.

She was united in marriage to Paul Olivier. They were married for eighteen years until he passed away in 2006. Together, they raised seven children, Manette Ducatel Francois, Andre Olivier, Marguerite Olivier Pierre, Sonia Olivier, France Ducatel, Olga Ducatel, and Yvanne Medard.

In 1988, she migrated to the United States with her husband to live with her sister-in-law Therese Olivier Pierre who sent for them. She resided in Orange, New Jersey for over three decades. Shortly after her arrival in the United States, she sent for her children Andre and Sonia Olivier.

She survived by her six children: Manette Ducatel Francois, Andre Olivier, Sonia Olivier, France Ducatel, Olga Ducatel, Ivanne Ducatel and one stepdaughter, Marguerite Pierre. Two         sisters-in-law: Suzanne Olivier and Therese Olivier Pierre; two brothers-in-law, Antoine and Luc Olivier; nine grandchildren: Dominique Bois, Frantz Francois, Stanley Guerrier(deceased) Francesca Ortiz, Steven Guerrier, Anderson(Andy) Olivier, Joshua Olivier, Doreen Olivier and David Lereau and four great grandchildren: Chloe Bois, Alexis Bois Alexander François  and Celine Ella-Marie Francois and a host of other relatives and friends.

She will be remembered by many family members and friends both in the United States and in Haiti.
