Cecilia “Ceil” Iwanski Lauber, age 91, of the Town of Floyd, passed away peacefully, November 15, 2013, with her loving family at her side.

She was born April 30, 1922, in St. Paul, Nebraska, a daughter of the late Rudolph and Della Chrapkowski Iwanski. She graduated from St. Paul schools and Zochalls Business College. Cecilia married Eugene Lauber in 1945 in Washington, D.C.; he died in 1980

She was employed from 1941-1946 as a secretary in the Dept of the Interior, and 1959-1980 as a secretary at Jervis Library in Rome, retiring in 1980. She later continued as a part time clerk at the library. Ceil operated Ceil’s Dress Shop during evenings and on Saturdays, from 1972-1977. She was the first Councilwoman in the Town of Floyd, from 1982-1985. She was a member of St. Leo’s Church, Holland Patent, AARP, Ava Dorfman and South Rome Seniors and Happy Hoofers senior dance group.

Cecilia is survived by a daughter and son in law, Donna and Don Ernenwein of Holland Patent; a son and daughter in law, Richard and Rose Lauber of Amsterdam; a daughter in law, Heather Lauber of Rochester; grandchildren, Donald and Douglas Ernenwein, Rachel Lauber, Aaron Lauber, Jodie Dovholuk and Katrina Lauber; and great grandchildren, Joelle and Cole Ernenwein, Marley and Mia Ernenwein, Siena Ardizzone and Gavin and Nadia Dovholuk. She was predeceased by a son, James Lauber, and a brother Dallas Iwanski
