Cecilia (Michalesko) Perry passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at home in Steger, IL on January 26, 2022.  Many knew her as Cookie or “Cook.” She was born on October 20, 1942 in Chicago Heights, IL and was 79 years young. Cookie was the third of six children born to Charles Michalesko and Georgia Newark. Cookie was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Francine, in 2017, and her parents. Surviving is her husband of 58 years, Sisto, and two sons, David (Kevin) of Chicago, IL and Robert (Tamara) of Beecher, IL; her granddaughters Sloane and Emma Jean and grandson, Jake Ryan, of Beecher, including siblings Patricia, Nicholas, John and Michael; and many wonderful in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Cookie graduated from Bloom High School in 1960 and worked at Gerardi’s Funeral Home in Chicago Heights and later at Marvell Bakery in Steger.  She met her true love and future husband, Sisto, at a party with family and friends and together they settled in Steger, IL where they raised their two boys.

Cookie was active in her local community, enjoying her time volunteering with the South Suburban Humane Society, collecting donations for various groups, and helping local political candidates.

Cookie adored her grandchildren and loved spending time with them whether it was enjoying their dance recitals or cheering their sports activities or just giving them hugs and tons of love. Among her hobbies and interests, Cookie loved listening to country music and old 60’s girl groups, going to concerts, visiting downtown Chicago, and laughing with her husband.
