Cecil V. Spearman, “J.R.” 76, of Anderson, passed away on May 22, 2013 at his residence. He was born on March 3, 1937 in Anderson, and resided in Anderson all of his life.

Cecil was the owner and operator of J.R.’s Southpark Tavern for 32 years. He had also previously worked for Central Indiana Railroad and he loved trains.

Cecil also enjoyed fishing, bowling, the casino, Chicago Cubs, Hank Williams, Sr., country music, and Mark Martin. He loved and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Cecil is survived by his loving wife , Diana Lucas Spearman; daughters, Georgia Lenuel Tate of Middletown, Vera K. Jimmie Niccum of Anderson; sons, Glenn Melissa Spearman of Anderson, and Dan Janie Spearman of Arcadia; grandchildren, Kevin Gina Potter, Amy key, Dustin Melissa Tate, Heather Niccum, Jesse Niccum, Scott Niccum, Stephanie Spearman, Kasie Spearman, Jessica Keith Bybee, Danielle Spearman, and Ashley Spearman; great-grandchildren, Lucas Potter, Zachary Potter, Tanner Potter, Tatem Potter, Chasity Key, Brooklyn Busby, Bryson Busby, Justin Tate, Kaylin Tate, Sean Niccum, Taylor Niccum, Baylee Niccum, Hailey White, Christopher Niccum, Matthew Niccum, Nathan Niccum, Karli Smith, Jayden Holmes, Carter Bybee, Brelynn Spearman, Gannon Spearman, and one on the way, Lanceton Potter; sisters, Marilyn Lawson, Patty Joe Chambers, Judy Parke, and Susie Swinford; several nieces, nephews, and mother-in-law Ruth Hamilton also survive.

Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil V. Sr. & Opal Closser Spearman; brothers, Pete, Bill, Buddy, & Robert; sisters, Joan Jackey, Dorothy Blaylock, and Betty Hunt. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital Hospice, Nurse Chris, Pastor Mark, and Helen.
