Obituary of Cecelia Ruth Lande

Cecelia Ruth Lande of Saginaw, Michigan. Passed away peacefully on Monday evening, October 21, 2019 at Well Spring Lutheran Services Senior Living of Saginaw. She was 98 years old. Cecelia Ruth Kahler was born October 26, 1920 in Denhoff, North Dakota to the late Herman and Mary (Welsch) Kahler. She married Leon Lande on March 4, 1942 in Minot, North Dakota. He preceded her in death on February 13, 2004. Cecelia attended Minot State Teacher’s College, earning an associate degree in teaching. She taught school in a one room school house in McClusky, North Dakota and was employed by JC Penney for ten years. Cecelia was a faithful and active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church for many years. She will be remembered as being hospitable, innovative, resourceful, and artistic.
She was a great seamstress and enjoyed crocheting and making clothing for her family. Cecelia also loved gardening and spending time outside. She was an avid baker and won awards for her delicious pies. Cecelia enjoyed passing the time completing puzzles and playing solitaire. But, what she really loved most was spending time with her family.
Surviving are her children, Dean (Shirley) Lande, Ilene (David) McIntosh, Alice (Jim) Kauppila, Phyllis (Gordon) Kelly; daughter in-law, Lynne Lande; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Cecelia was preceded in death by her son, Lars Lande; sisters, Elizabeth, Bertha, Kathryn, Sister Felicitas, Mary, Marian and Clara.
