Cecelia M. Fox, age 97 of Stockton, IL, died Sunday, February 17, 2013 at the Lena Living Center in Lena, IL.
She was born August 4, 1915 in Woodbine, IL, the daughter of Anthony and Elizabeth (Becker) Smith. She was educated in the Stockton School District. She married Morrell Fox on April 3, 1938 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA.
Cecelia was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Stockton. She and her husband farmed in the Kent area on the family homestead for several years before moving to Stockton. They also ran the Blackhawk Hotel and Stockton Bowling Lanes.
She worked at Ortiz Nursing Home for several years, was a cook at Country Side Café, and many other restaurants. She was a great cook and a marvelous pie maker; her pies were always requested by the entire family for each holiday. In her pastime she enjoyed rides on the pontoon boat at Apple Canyon Lake, family get-together, and dining out for catfish dinners.
She is survived by her son Paul (Shirley) of Lena; her grandchildren, Dawn (Jeff) Yeager of Evansville, WI, Duane (Jana) Fox of Dyersville, IA, and Denise (Wade) Flack of Rock City, IL; her great-grandchildren, Brandon, Ariel, & Kaden Yeager; Sydney & Taylor Fox; and Tonya (Joe) Lynch, Orion, & Chloe Flack; her two brothers, Anthony Smith of Apple River, IL and Virgil Smith of Waupaca WI; and a sister, Viorena Coutwright of Beach Park, IL.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Mertis Smith and Donovan Smith; and her sister, Vinetta Hagerty.
