Cecelia Ann (Debendarfer) Hood, age 88, of Daleville, Virginia, formerly of Grafton, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, May 18, 2013. She was born June 26, 1924, in Mannington, WV, a daughter of the late Harold K. Debendarfer and Mildred V. (Snodgrass) Debendarfer. Her husband Harry Richard “Dick” Hood preceded her in death. They were united in marriage April 3, 1947.
Mrs. Hood was a 1942 graduate of Grafton High School and received her Master’s degree in education from West Virginia University. She was a retired school teacher, having taught in Harrison County. She was a life member of the WV Association of Retired School Employees (WVARSE); a member of the Harrison County Association of Retired School Employees; a life member of the WVU College of Agriculture, Forestry, and Consumer Sciences; a member of the Order of Eastern Star Naomi Chapter #12, the Tefnet Court Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America (LOSNA), a life member of the WVU Alumni Association; the WVU Emeritus Club, the Taylor County Photography Club, and the First United Methodist Church of Clarksburg. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Surviving are: three daughters, Sharon Hood, of Roanoke, VA, Sandra Gunter and husband Bob, of Pineville, WV; and Dee Parkinson and husband Mark, of Roanoke, VA; three grandchildren, Robert Gunter and wife Lisa of Grapevine, TX, DeAnn Stull and husband Mark of Covington, VA, and Heath Foster of Lookout Mountain, GA; three great grandchildren, Blake Gunter, Addi Stull, and Brock Stull; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by: two sisters, Martha Gowans and Virginia Price O’Leary.
