Catherine Jo “Cathy” Berendes, 65, of Jacksonville, died Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at her residence.
She was born Oct. 14, 1955, in Beardstown, the daughter of Glen E. and Patsy L. Hearold Riley. She married Chuck Berendes on June 5, 1976, in Chambersburg, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 3, 2011.
She is survived by her daughter, Camella Berendes (companion, Jerry Rodgers) of Jacksonville; three grandchildren, Dillon, Chyanne, and Austyn Wheeler, all of Jacksonville; her brother, Kirk (Donna) Riley of Warrensburg; and two nieces, Alyssa and Abbey Riley. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and son, Clark Travis Berendes.
Cathy was an LPN for Lavender Ridge Memory Care in Jacksonville. Her life revolved around her work and her family, especially her grand-kids.
