Catherine Veronica Batastini (Cassie), 84, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2015 after a long battle with cancer. Born in Philadelphia, PA on January 22, 1931 to Regina Lanigan and Clarence Belt. Cassie, along with her 9 brothers and sisters, moved to Baltimore, MD where she was raised. Cassie relocated to Chicago, IL where she was a stewardess for American Airlines. There she met and married the love of her life, Ralph Batastini, on September 3, 1960 and had their two children, Brian in 1961 and Lynn in 1962. In 1971, the family transferred to Scottsdale, AZ with The Greyhound Corporation and resided there to raise their children. Cassie was always involved in the community, which included The Sky Harbor Auxiliary, giving tours of the airport, and The Kiwi Club, for former flight attendants that no longer fly. In 1980, her love of travel continued in the business where she was a travel agent for 17 years. Cassie was one truly beautiful and amazing woman that lived an exquisite life with grace and class. She was full of energy and had a zest for life. She had the brightest smile and stylish presence that illuminated any room. She was deeply devoted to her faith, extremely gracious and was always giving to others. Cassie was a devoted wife, mother, friend and sister. Cassie was preceded in death by her husband Ralph and is survived by her son Brian (wife Birdi), daughter Lynn, sister Dorothy and several nieces and nephews.
