Catherine Underwood Burch, 73, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on November 6, 2022. She entered this world on July 14, 1949, in Oak Ridge, TN, born to James and Dorothy Underwood. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Simmermacher; son-in-law, Todd Simmermacher; son, Michael Banks; daughter-in-law, Christine Banks; spouse, William Burch; granddaughter, Chelsea Mahlke; grandsons, Branden Banks (Brittney), Jarod Banks (Channing), Kaden Banks, and Griffin Banks; grandsons, Benjamin Gonzales and Kaedman Hardy; granddaughters, Marissa Gonzales and Melee Hardy; great-granddaughter, Gretta Mahlke; great-grandsons, Lincoln Mahlke, Bodhi Mahlke, and Finn Mahlke; brothers, Tom Underwood and Harry Underwood; sisters, Gwen Costner and Linda Thompson; and step-daughters, Eileen Gonzalez (Ron) and Robyn Hardy. She was proceeded in death by her parents, James and Dorothy Underwood; and sister, Phyllis Cox.
Catherine graduated with honors from the University of Tennessee and chose to pursue a career in education. She was a greatly respected teacher and one that every parent would want to teach their child. She was an extraordinarily loving person and a gift to all those in her life. Her family could not ask for a better sister, mother, wife, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Congratulations Catherine on a job well done, we will miss you, and thank you for helping to make this world a better place.
