Mrs. Catherine Marie Chittem, age 71, of Seymour, formerly of Derby, beloved wife of the late Charles Theodore Chittem, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 13, 2009 in her home surrounded by her loving family.  

 

Daughter of the late George James and Catherine Marie Postupack Smelko, she was born on May 13, 1937 in Coaldale, Pennsylvania. Catherine lived for her family and had a zest for life and being happy. She put everything and everyone before her self and was known for being a very charitable person to all. She knew how to make a house a home. Catherine enjoyed baking and was known especially for her famous “Oatmeal Cookies”.  She will be remembered for always being able to make you smile in the worst of situations and being able to make you feel safe and loved at all times. Her faith was unshakable and she was a firm believer in second chances for everyone. She will be greatly missed by all.

 

 

 Survivors include four loving children Paula M. Blankenship and her husband Ralph of Seymour, David G. Chittem of Stafford Springs, Matthew J. Chittem of Shelton and Theodore G. Chittem  and his wife Laura of Milford and seven cherished grandchildren.  She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter-in-law Jody Chittem and great-granddaughter Trinity Elizabeth Aguilar.
