Lou Ippolito Smith, age 78, passed away peacefully with her family and friends by her side on Sunday, June 17, 2012. Born in Roswell, New Mexico, on January 24, 1934, she preceded in death by her parents George and Muriel Zimmerman. Lou is survived by her husband, Sid Smith; children, Ann Heath (Martin), Jenny Hair (Richard), and Tony Ippolito (Natalie); grandchildren, Julie, Sam, Cameron, and Lexy; brother, George Zimmerman; sister, Dottie Cole and closest friend Gene Wisley. Lou made here home in San Antonio, Texas for many years before moving to Boerne, Texas in 2001. She was an active member of St. Mark Presbyterian Church where she served as a Deacon. In her many years of art she was a member of the Coppini Art Academy, the McNay Art Institute and current member of the Boerne Area Artist Association and Guadalupe Watercolor Society. Lou was a well known artist in many fields of art with her love of watercolor and pen & ink, she created living works of art through her love of nature. Lou will be greatly missed by all who she touched in life.
