Carrie Mae Brown, 93, went home to the Lord January 24th, 2015.
Carrie was born on September 23, 1921 in Chariton to Homer and Fern Curtis. She grew up on the farm. Carrie attended country school and graduated from Chariton High School. Following, she attended Junior College in Chariton. She graduated and received her teaching certificate and began teaching in the Country School. Later, she attended Drake University and received her Bachelor’s Degree in August, 1971. Carrie spent 20 years in Elementary Education, teaching 2nd Grade in the Chariton School District.
Carrie married Norman Brown on July 9, 1943. They farmed all 53 years of their married life. Blessed to their union were two sons, Robert N. and Donald C. Brown.
Carrie also had a special love for her family and children. Her tender care, hospitality and devotion to loving and serving will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
Carrie was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Fern Curtis; her husband, Norman; infant daughter, Marilyn; and brothers, Gerald and Bob Curtis. She is survived by her children Robert (Sandy) of Omaha, NE and Don (Carol) of Chariton; six grandchildren, Tracey (Scott) Johnson, Suzanne (Barrett) Hanson, Kristina (Kenneth) Vakoc, Trevor (Brenda) Brown, Monte (Nicki) Brown, Marcy (Sheldon) Stocker; nine great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
