Carrie Brown, 75, of Neptune, NJ was called home on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, NJ surrounded by her family and friends. She was born on September 25/26, 1938 in Havana, FL.

Carrie was a registered nurse and enjoyed a long time career at Marlboro Psychiatric Hospital, after its closing, and Arthur Brisbane Child Treatment Center. She retired, but continued to do per diem work for various health agencies.

She was a devoted member of St. Stephens A.M.E Zion Church for many years. She was an active member in the Ladies Ushers Ministry, and as head of the Health Ministry she educated the church members on a variety of health issues. Carrie was a faithful Messenger of the Missionary Ministry, a Seacoast Usher, was an active member of the Concerned Black Nurses of Central Jersey, and was also involved with the NAACP.

Carrie was a devoted mother, sister, grandmother and friend. She was always a positive and supportive presence in the lives of everyone who knew her. She enjoyed trips to Atlantic City, babysitting her great grandchildren, working in her yard, Sunday dinners with her family, and traveling.

She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Geneva Roberts; sisters, Theresa Conway of Havana, FL, and Eloise Holt of Neptune, NJ; brother, Andre Dickey of Tallahassee, FL; and great grandson, Tre’Sahn Dupree of Neptune, NJ.

She is survived by her four children, Dalthea Beavers (Leonard) of Ocean, NJ, Rosalyn Jackson (Lawrence) of Riverdale, GA, Michael and Derek Brown, of Neptune, NJ; nine grandchildren, Tanaya, Tamara, Taleisa, Candice, Derek, and Adrian Brown, Alonzo, Stefanie, and Alannah Jackson;  5 great grandchildren, Takayla Blue, Veronica, Savannah, and Sidney Brown, and Taheer Dupress; four sisters, Patricia Winslow and Josephine Holland of Neptune, NJ, Mattie Golding and Sylvia Hooker of Tallahassee, FL; four brothers, Joseph and Jeffrey Roberts, Charles and Allen Dickey both of Tallahassee, FL; one god daughter, Talaya Ingram of Neptune, NJ; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
