Carrie “Kay” Elizabeth Gross Ogburn, 75, of Chester, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 19, 2024. Born in Maryland on April 5, 1948, she was the daughter of the late John M. Lewis and Agnes L. Lewis. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Deborah and Nancy Lewis.
Kay was well known in the community for her career as a hairstylist for over 50 years. Her salon, Falling Creek Hairstylists, was a haven – a place where clients became lifelong friends, and each appointment was a reunion. Kay was always a hardworking woman, even outside of the salon.
She is survived by her husband of 11 years, William Henry “W.H.” or “Bill” Ogburn; her daughter, Wendy Gross Witt (Kenny); son, Danny Gross, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Stephanie Gross; grandchildren, Tonya Russomanno (Tony), James Hendrick, III (Kara), Kyle Gross, and Wyatt Gross; great-grandchildren, Mason and Landry; brother, Richard “Dickie” Lewis; sister, Linda Cooper; half-brother, Brock Lewis; half-sister, Courtney Lewis; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Porter and Rebecca Ogburn; and numerous special nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
