Obituary of Carolyn Wilson
DeeDee Wilson (Carolyn Ann Wilson), died on Wednesday, March 11, 2020, at her home among her family and close friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Wilson, and her parents Ken and Ann MacDonald, and her youngest sister, Mary MacDonald, with whom she shared the birthday of October 1. DeeDee was 74 years old.
Born in Pensacola, Florida in 1945, her family moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1947, where she spent her youth, attending St. Thomas Aquinas School, playing at Burns Park, swimming at Huron Valley Swim Club and cheering on the Wolverines. In 1963 the family moved to Saginaw, Michigan when her father purchased radio station, WSAM and formed MacDonald Broadcasting. DeeDee graduated from St. Peter and Paul High School. After graduation she studied and worked at St. Luke’s Hospital in respiratory therapy.
She married John Wilson in 1971, and they were happily married for 32 years until his death in 2004. DeeDee and her husband enjoyed building a second home in northern Michigan, adjacent to the original chalet in Boyne Falls. She spent many summers at the family cottage on Walloon Lake. DeeDee finished her career working for the family radio business where she provided important administrative responsibilities in all facets of the broadcast facilities. She was a constant companion and support for her now deceased mother, Carolyn Ann MacDonald, until her death in June of 2017.
DeeDee is survived by siblings Kathy and Terry Kasiborski, Mac and Deirdre MacDonald, Josie and Bill Doherty, Trish and Jack Garber, and Andrew MacDonald. She has 15 nieces and nephews, Kevin, Brian and Michael Kasiborski, Mairin Watson, Devin and Mackenzie MacDonald and Maeve Baculy, Becca Flack, Billy, Andrew and Tim Doherty, Tad, Peter and Joey Garber, and Mason MacDonald. DeeDee’s life was also greatly enhanced by the companionship and care of Jessica Foco, Meaghan Richter and Karen Kobel.
