Carolyn Marie Brainard, 81, of Colonial Heights passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2024. Born December 30, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Bernard Joseph Callis and Virginia Carolina Lamm Trent, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Noel Brainard; and brother, Bruce Callis.
Carolyn worked for Brown and Williamson Tobacco Corporation in Petersburg, Virginia for a number of years. Later in life, she transitioned to a role as a nurses aide in Fairfax, Virginia. She spent many years as a health care provider, bringing comfort and support to those in need. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond the professional realm as she dedicated herself to the well-being of others in their homes.
A lover of all living beings, Carolyn had a special place in her heart for animals, particularly her late beloved beagle, Lucky. Her home was a haven for both people and pets, and her unconditional love knew no bounds.
Carolyn found great joy in the outdoors, with a particular fondness for the beauty of the spring season. Surrounded by the company of family and friends, she relished in the simple pleasures of nature, creating cherished memories that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew her.
Her kindness and caring nature extended to her community at Dunlop Farms Senior Apartments, where she built lasting relationships with friends and neighbors.
She is survived by her son, Lonnie Woodfin (Martha) of Chesterfield, Va; daughter, Lisa Boyle of Prince George, Va; brothers, Bobby Callis (Jennifer) of Bear, Delaware, Frank “Terry” Callis (Dawn) of Dinwiddie, Va, James Callis of Colonial Heights, Va; two grandsons, Kristopher Boyle of Prince George, Va, Russell Tuttle (Hannah) of Mosely, Va; six great-grandchildren; and five nieces and nephews.
