On April 29th, Carolyn (Margaret) Lindgren Clary joined her husband Charles W. Clary, II; father, Paul J. Lindgren; mother, Anna E. Lindgren; and brother, Leslie Lindgren, in the Lord’s House.
Carolyn was born in the farming community of Princeton, Minnesota. She was very involved in school activities and played in the school band. To make extra money in high school, she played tenor sax in Maury Johnson’s dance band out at “Bud’s Place” north of town on Saturday nights.
After graduation, Carolyn left Princeton for Chicago, to study Civil Aeronautics, and eventually moved to Evergreen, Alabama and Crestview, Florida, during World War II, to work as a flight data recorder. While performing her work, she made time for flying lessons and soloed in 1947. In Crestview, she met Charles “Chuck” Clary; they married in 1946 and raised a family. They were married for 62 years.
Carolyn is survived by two brothers, Kenneth Lindgren (Esther), David Lindgren (Arlene) and sister-in-law, Helen Lindgren; two daughters, Carole Ann Clary and Elizabeth “Libby” Price (Al); son, Charles W. Clary, III (Beth); grandchildren Brian Gant, Elliott Grant, Joanna L. Bonafanti (Mark) and Laura E. Bayr (Martin), and great granddaughter, Lucy E. Bonafanti.
