Mrs. Carolyn Jeanette Styers, 81, passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at her home in Oxford, MS with her family by her side..M.. Born on October 28, 1939 in Lafayette County, MS to the late Curtis and Ellen Garrison Henderson, Mrs. Styers was a charter member of North Oxford Baptist Church. She was active in all areas of her church and found great joy in the relationships she formed with her church family while worshipping, singing in the choir, organizing and volunteering within North Oxford. Her civic involvement spilled over into her community where she was active in many organizations including the Pilot Club where she served as president. She instilled a great work ethic in her children by seamlessly managing her career as the office manager at Baptist Memorial Hospital, raising her family and staying involved in community efforts. She was a vital and respected member of the Mississippi Hospital Association where she reached the rank of President. Social by nature, she rarely turned down an invitation to be with friends or colleagues. However, once her grandchildren were born, her priorities shifted to keeping them in her home. Her family laughs recalling the difficulty in getting their children to come back home after spending their days in the country with their grandparents. The days she could gather her husband, children and grandchildren together under one roof for family meals and lots of laughter were her most . Styers is survived by her husband of 63 years, Mr. Joe Styers of Oxford; a daughter, Carole Jackson and her husband, Tim of Oxford; a son, Brad Styers and his wife, Connie of Oxford and three grandchildren, Cody Jackson and his wife, Embrey of Oxford, Abby Moore and her husband Brent of Mantachie, MS and Taylor Styers of Oxford, MS. She was thrilled to have a great grandson on the way!. Styers’ memory may be made to North Oxford Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1700, Oxford, MS 38655.
