Carolyn Jesse Smith, 96, a resident of Jefferson House, Newington, formerly of Bristol, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015. Born in Chicago, IL, daughter of the late Vene C. and Louise Smith, she grew up in Waukegan, IL before moving to Connecticut. She worked as an office receptionist at the former Whitney Chain Co. for many years before retirement. Carolyn is survived by her only child, Judith Novak Brady (formerly Kerrigan) of Broad Brook, step-grandsons David Brady, IV, Patrick Brady and his wife Lori and their son Will and several extended family members in California and Hawaii. She was predeceased by her son-in-law David J. Brady, III. Carolyn was a kind, gentle soul and friend to all who knew her. Her daughter wishes to thank the staff of Jefferson House for the kind, expert care given to Carolyn.
