Carolyn Jenkins Houston, 88 years young, of El Paso, TX and formerly of Jacksonville, IL passed away Sunday, August 13, 2017 in El Paso.

She was born in St. Louis, MO on October 4, 1928, the daughter of George Arthur and Maude Tarrant Jenkins. She graduated from Kirkwood, MO High School and continued on to receive a Bachelors of Business Administration from University of Texas at El Paso at the age of 55.

Carolyn was married to William George “Bill” Houston on December 23, 1948 and they were married 56 years at the time of Bill’s death on January 11, 2005.

She is survived by her son, David William Houston (wife, Debi) of Canton, GA and daughter, Kathleen Houston Cruz (husband, Santi) of El Paso, TX; six grandchildren, Leslie Paul, Kristen Sullivan, Joshua Cruz, Paul Cruz, Kelly Quinn, and Chelsea Houston; and six great grandsons.  She was preceded in death by her husband and two sons, Daniel George Houston and Joseph Michael Houston.

Carolyn acquired her own business, Tumbleweed Travel in El Paso, TX, following her graduation from college and operated the agency for 10 years. She enjoyed her bridge clubs, tennis and golf. She was also a former concert violinist for the Kirkwood, Missouri Symphony Orchestra and was actively involved in her church.

The family of Carolyn Jenkins Houston wishes to thank the entire staff at Good Samaritan Society – White Acres and Hospice El Paso for the wonderful care they provided.
