Carolyn Gorham, age 83, of Cassopolis, died peacefully Friday, August 19, 2016 in the peace and comfort of her residence.She was born July 13, 1933 in Constantine, Michigan to Herbert and Ethel (Arney) Poe.She married Richard Leigh Gorham July 18, 1954 in Jones, Michigan.
He preceded her in death in 2012. She was also preceded by her parents; two brothers, Carlton Poe and Kenneth Poe; and her daughter, Susan Simmons. Carolyn and her husband, Richard, loved to travel, especially their train and bus trips. She was an avid quilter, making one for everyone in her family, and donating several to the Council on Aging. Carolyn and Richard never missed an event that involved one of the children, grand kids or great grand-kids (and was always on time!) She and her husband both loved their food, especially if it involved getting the family together. Carolyn and Richard were long time members of the United Presbyterian Church of Cassopolis where Carolyn sang in the choir.
Carolyn will be greatly missed by family and friends. Left to cherish her memory and continue her legacy is her daughter and son in law, Cindy and Scott Peters of Cassopolis; her son in law, Wendell Simmons of Cassopolis; four grandchildren, Monica (husband, John) Kennedy, Greg (wife, Annette) Peters, Seth (wife, Natosha) Simmons, Kara (husband, Dan) Lewis; five great grandchildren, Isabel Kennedy, J.R. Kennedy, Cadence Simmons, Arlo Lewis, Sullivan Lewis; and a host of nieces and nephews.
