Carolyn Carr McDaniel died January 5, 2015, at her home in Moscow, Idaho. She was 85. Carolyn was born in Trigg County, Kentucky on August 13, 1929 to Rogers and Claryce Joiner Carr. She graduated from South Christian High School in 1947 and went on to college at Western Kentucky University. In the summer of 1950, she was introduced to Paul Blaine McDaniel, who had just graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point. They were married September 19, 1950 in Evansville, Indiana, shortly before Paul shipped off to Korea. During Paul’s military career they lived in 6 states, 2 foreign countries and 25 houses. After Paul’s retirement and before his passing in 2013, Carolyn and Paul lived in 2 more states, and 4 more houses. With her love of decorating and entertaining, Carolyn made a home for her family everywhere they lived. She traveled in Europe, Southeast Asia, New Zealand, Australia and Hawaii, and never lost her love of travel. She also enjoyed attending her granddaughter Natalie’s sporting events. Carolyn is survived by her son Paul (Juanita Lichthardt) McDaniel of Moscow, daughter Nancy McDaniel of Salem, Oregon, sister Rosalyn Carr Smith of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, brother Joe (Jane Morris-Carr) Carr of Herndon, Kentucky, granddaughter Natalie McDaniel of Moscow, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 63 years, Paul McDaniel, and sister Margie Carr Glass.
