On Good Friday, April 15, 2022, Caroline Irene Miller, daughter of Luther and Irene Ferguson passed away in Silver City, New Mexico.
Caroline was born at Rose Hill, Kansas on December 28, 1934 and grew up in Udall, Kansas. After high school, Caroline attended the Wichita Comptometer School (adding machine – google it – very interesting!) and worked as a comptometer for a railroad company. Her true love was Charles Boyd Miller also of Udall, Kansas. He pursued Caroline with a vengeance spinning her head so that she ran off to Hawaii to marry him in 1953 (Charles was in the Navy).
Caroline had a passion for life and a positive attitude. She excelled at any game she played, but particularly loved bridge. She belonged to several bridge groups and played the game avidly. In 2008, she and her partner had a Grand Slam of 7 and NO TRUMP (whatever that means!) and were celebrated by her group. She was an obsessive quilter who produced, sold and gave away several dozen stunning bed, baby and wall-hanging quilts in her lifetime. Most important to her with any and all of her activities was the pleasure she received from spending time with loving family and friends.
Caroline is preceded in death by her father, mother and husband, Charles Miller and three of her five sisters. She is survived by her son, Britt Miller; daughter Sue Miller; her younger sister, Linda Morton; four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
In parting, Caroline’s husband always told the children that he “taught Superman to fly”, BUT Caroline quilted the “magic” into Superman’s cape. She will be missed.
