Carol Marie Hawkins departed her life on March 7, 2022 at Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Camden, New Jersey.
Carol was born December 17,1946 in Jersey City NJ to the late Sylvester and Wilhelmina Presley.
In 1950, her family moved to Elizabeth where she received her education and graduated from Battin High School. She worked at Egenolf Early Childhood Center to pay her own way to attend Drake College. In 1969, She married Edward Hawkins and in their union they had 5 children. In the 1980s, Carol was baptized and dedicated her life and became a Jehovah’s Witness. For over 30 years she worked for the State of New Jersey until she retired in December 2017.
Carol was a beloved wife, daughter, mother, sister and “MomMom” to her grandchildren. If you knew Carol, you loved her. She had a smile that was big, bright and contagious. She was very smart, quiet, sweet, loving, kind, always giving and as her sister Theresa would say “Brilliant”. She loved her family and always make a point that everyone is ok and taken care of. There isn’t anything she would do for anyone. She affected the lives if all that come in contact with her. She loved to read her mystery novels (Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys) and execellent at budgeting money and your money. Lol. She took pride in helping others in their journey.
Carol is predeceased by her husband: Edward Hawkins; Parents: Sylvester and Wilhelmina Presley; Brothers: Robert, Richard, Avery, Howard and Garrett Presley; 2 sister: Vera Whitted and Gail Presley.
She leaves to mourn a son: Edward Hawkins Jr. of Willingboro NJ; 4 daughters: Sharon of Cherry Hill NJ, Annette of Willingboro NJ, Deidra of Durham NC, Dahlia of Woodbridge NJ. She was beloved MomMom to 4 grandchildren: Tarajee Pitts, Marquis Hawkins, Tiyah Hinton and Justin Hawkins. 5 Brothers: Harold (Fredrina), Douglas (Maye), Philip, Paul, Michael Presley; 3 sisters: Theresa McClendon, Dorothy Castro and Claudia Presley. And a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends
