Carol M. Burmeister (Buss), 84, loving mother and grandmother gained her wings on Wednesday, January 8, 2020. She is survived by her children, Dawn Fernandez (Ken), Lori Feistel, Scott Burmeister (Jamie), and Liza Campbell (Gerald); five grandchildren, Alisha Feistel, Arianna Fernandez (Vincent), Christopher Fernandez (Lori), Mitchell Campbell, and Jessica Tapia (Zach); and three great-grandchildren, Austin Feistel, Kira Fernandez, and Aspen Tapia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Eleanor Buss; husband, Phil Burmeister; and son, Bruce Burmeister.
Carol was born in Freedom, Wisconsin and moved to Appleton, WI when she was a child. She graduated from Appleton High School. Carol was a private person but had many lifelong friends. Carol loved to dance and bowl in her younger years. Carol always put her family first. Carol was the mother of five children and was actively involved with their various activities. She was always in the stands cheering for her sons, Bruce and Scott, when they played Little League or when they wrestled in HS. For her daughter, Liza, playing Little League softball and on one of the first HS softball teams after the implementation of Title IX. Carol was an avid supporter of her children as they played softball as adults, some in very competitive leagues, and joined them on the road for out of town tournaments. She took vacation trips with her children and grandchildren to many parts of the country.
Holidays were special at Carol’s house and she always cooked and decorated to the max, hosting a house full of family and friends and making memories that will be with us forever. Carol realized a travel wish and enjoyed an Alaskan Cruise in 2012 with her husband and family. Carol had a number of different jobs during her lifetime but the majority of her employment was in retail. She volunteered as an election poll worker for many years. Carol left an impact on many lives and will be missed by her family and friends.
