CAROL LOUISE (LUDDEN) PFUNTNER Manassas, VA – Surrounded by family, Carol Louise (Ludden) Pfuntner passed away peacefully at home, Saturday February 3, 2018. Carol was born July 26, 1929 in Canisteo, NY, the daughter of Harold E. and Regis R. Corbin. She was a lifelong resident of Wellsville, NY, until moving to Virginia in 1998. A graduate of Wellsville High School Class of 1947, Carol excelled at cello and continued to play into her 70’s. She played in several orchestras in the Wellsville area, as well as the NOVA Manassas Symphony in Virginia. Carol worked several years as dental assistant to Dr. Charles Gibson in Wellsville. She went on to graduate from St. Francis School of Nursing in Olean, NY. She pursued nursing and was employed by Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville until her retirement. On November 2, 1985, Carol married Walter A. Pfuntner of Wellsville. Carol was a talented quilter and enjoyed sewing. She loved baseball and followed the Washington Nationals faithfully. Her favorite player was Ryan Zimmerman. Carol had a big heart, and was always willing to help those less fortunate. She enjoyed doing volunteer work at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC. Carol is survived by her sister, Eileen Evans of Wellsville; a son, Kevin Ludden of Centreville, VA; and son-in-law Dominick Graziano of Black Mountain, NC. Carol’s pride and joy were her four grandsons, Dan Graziano, Nick Graziano (both of McLean, VA), Vince Ludden, and Matt Ludden (both of Chantilly, VA). Carol was predeceased by her husband Walter, brother Dorr Corbin, and her daughter, Kathy Ludden-Graziano. The family would like to thank the directors and staff at Arbor Terrace at Sudley Manor, and Vitas Hospice Care.
