CAROL JENKIN SCHROEDER Wife of the late Raymond W. Schroeder, daughter of the late John Searle and Carolyn George Jenkin, born December 26, 1928 and passed away on September 12, 2016 at the age of 87. Carol lived in East Orange and Westwood, N.J. and spent her school years in Verona, N.J. where she graduated from Verona High School. She attended the Kings County College and the American Institute of Banking. She was employed by the Merchants and Newark Trust Co., the National State Bank of Newark and Shulton, Inc.
Carol is the former member of the Verona Presbyterian Church and the Westminster Presbyterian Church of Bloomfield and the Bloomfield Presbyterian Church on the Green where she served as a Deacon and Elder. She also taught Sunday School in all of these churches as well as serving as a choir member. While living in Bloomfield, Carol studied voice for seven years with Donald Gage. She was a member of the Bloomfield Civic Chorus and was the scenic designer for their annual productions. After 37 years the Schroeder’s move to Allamuchy Twp. (Panther Valley) where they lived for seven years and were members of the Newton Presbyterian Church and choir as well as the Pocono Choral Society. They the moved to Manahawkin, N.J. where they lived for 7 years and were members of the Presbyterian Church of Toms River and chancel choir.
After her husband was hospitalized for Alzheimer’s disease, Carol moved to Whiting, N.J. and became a member of the Community Reformed Church and choir. Carol was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star of New Jersey, Nutley Chapter #121, The Long Beach Island’s Women Club and the Southern Ocean County Hospital Auxiliary and the Crestwood Chorus. Carol also won many awards and ribbons for her photography and fine art. Carol leaves a daughter, Jacquelyn Watt of Monroe, a daughter, Susan Baker of Virginia and a son, Raymond Schroeder of Montague, N.J. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
