Carol Jane Rathbun went home to the Lord on Wednesday, September 30, 2020. Carol was born in Norwich Connecticut, the daughter of the late Harry Hansen and Mary (Kilbosa) Hansen. She was one of eight children and was raised in a very loving family. Her siblings are Walter (Deborah) Hansen (Griswold,Ct.), Harry (JoAnne) Hansen ( Hebron, Ct.), Marylou Lang (Charles) (Colorado), and Regina Szydlo (Norwich, Ct.). She had three predeceased brothers,Thomas Hansen, Richard Hansen and Kenneth Hansen, respectfully.
Carol had five children, the late Harold Rathbun (Jewett City, Ct.) the late David Rathbun (Christine. deceased), (Jewett City, Ct.), Linda Lisitano (Norwich,Ct.) Robert (Mirelli) Rathbun (Glen Burnie,Maryland) and Mark (Jane) Rathbun (Westerly,RI). She was blessed with four grandchildren, Brennan, Alexander, Victoria and Brandon. Also many nieces and nephews.
Carol loved her family and enjoyed cooking for them. She faced the difficult circumstances of her life with courage and dignity. She was always there for her family. She spent the last five years of her life at Sheltering Arms in Norwich, Ct. where she enjoyed many friendships and the wonderful love and care of the staff there.
The family would also like to thank Backus hospital and the Hospice Care team for providing her with comfort and care in the last days of her life.
