Carmen A. Alu of Florence died Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mt. Holly at the age of 76. Mr. Alu was born in Trenton, lived in Burlington and then Beverly for 33 years before moving to Florence about one year ago. He was an Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. Prior to his retirement, Carmen worked as a machinist for Occidental Chemical Co. in Burlington Twp.
In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, watching the New England Patriots, and following high school sports. His greatest joy was vacationing on Long Beach Island with his family and watching his grandchildren’s sporting events. Carmen is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law Donna and Bob Cooper of Burlington, Denise and Doug Bleidorn of Barrington, and Darlene Alu of Philadelphia; his grandchildren Angela Sereni, Jonathan Bleidorn, Kyra Cooper, Megan Bleidorn and Lindsey Cooper; his brother Raymond Alu and sister Mary Lou Alu-Curto.
