Carmelo Velazquez, 90 of Jackson, NJ passed away on Saturday October 27, 2018 at Community Medical Center, Toms River, NJ. He was born in Puerto Rico moving to Bronx, NY when he was 16 years old, then he lived in Jersey City, NJ before moving to Jackson in 1962. Carmelo owned and operated his grocery store El Liro in Jersey City, NJ for many years then Fanny’s Market in Jackson, NJ.
He was a parishioner of St. Monica’s RC Church in Jackson, NJ which used to be St. Anthony’s RC church back in the day where he was a member of the Holy Name Society. Preceded in death by his loving wife Epifania (Gerena) Velazquez. and also his son Anthony Velazquez Surviving is his beloved children; Carmelo of Jersey City, NJ, Wilfred of Jackson, NJ, Fanny Velazquez of Jackson, NJ, Benedita Roman of Lakewood, NJ, and Enid Garcia of Florida, two brothers; Hector and William, one sister Gladys Velazquez, ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
