Carmela Deluccia, 96, passed away and went to heaven to be with our Lord on August 1, 2022.  She was born on May 28, 1926 in Elizabeth, NJ, and lived in Florida for the past 58 years.  She was a devoted mother, daughter, wife, sister, aunt, cousin, grandmother, great grandmother and friend who rarely missed a family event. Her family was her greatest treasure.

Carmela is survived by her sister Arlene (MIchael) Whalen of Lavallette, NJ, four children, Frank (Denise) Deluccia of Chatham, NJ, Debra (Gary) Bal of Boca Raton, FL, Susan (Michael) O’Leath of Boiling Springs, SC, Thomas (Leslie) Deluccia of Simpsonville, SC, 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  She is predeceased by her loving parents, Vincent and Josephine Foti, husband, Frank Deluccia, older sister, Domenica Russo, son-in-law Aaron Ware, and her beloved grandson, Troy Deluccia.

Carmela graduated from Batten High School then attended secretarial school. She worked at Elizabeth Iron Works as an executive secretary where she honed her administrative skills.

Carmela’s family spent their summers at the Jersey Shore at her parent’s summer home in Lavallette. It was there that relatives and friends gathered for many years.

Carmela married Frank Deluccia in 1953, and was a loving and devoted mother to four children, Frank, Debra, Susan and Thomas. The family lived in Bricktown, NJ, until 1964, then moved to Plantation, Florida and started a scaffolding business in Fort Lauderdale, Frank Deluccia, Inc. They worked together for years until his sudden passing in 1993.

She loved music, especially Frank Sinatra, and knew the words to all his songs, her favorite being, “My Way”.  She loved to sing and dance and she had a song for everything.  She was an avid gardener, and an amazing cook. She was devoted to and cherished her children, and helped with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her first great grandchild, Gavin, who spent his younger years and precious time with her, affectionately named her “Gigi”. She was kind, sweet, and compassionate but tough, strong and courageous, she rarely complained.  She was a happy lady, always with a smile or a giggle.  She was dedicated to her family and friends, and her compassion for others and the selfless investment in their lives will be forever missed and appreciated.
