Carlton Herman Race, 86, of Farmington, ME, husband of the late Marjorie (Griswold) Race, passed away on Friday, July 4th at the Alzheimer Resource Center of CT in Plantsville. Born in Rome, NY, he was the son of the late Homer and Estelle (Herman) Race. Carlton lived most of his life in Cromwell before retiring to Maine. He was employed at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft for 37 years, was a member of the Cromwell Volunteer Fire Department and of the Masonic Lodge in Newington and Maine, and was a veteran of WWII. He is survived by four sons, William L. Race of NC, Gary S. Race of VA, Charles D. Race of East Hampton and Charles Hayden of Enfield; three daughters, Karen Race of Middletown, Barbara Delldonna of Cromwell, and Terry Clark of Kansas; two brothers, Howard Race of WI and Donald Race of FL; one sisters, Marion Mushko of MA; fifteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. Besides his wife and parents, Carlton was predeceased by a son, Wayne E. Race and a sister, Belle Lampman.
